To help current and potential supporters understand my background and platform, here is a summary of my interview on the Pete Mundo Show, written from my perspective:

A Vision for Lee’s Summit: Leading with Experience and Responsibility

I recently sat down with Pete Mundo on KCMO Talk Radio to discuss my candidacy for Mayor of Lee’s Summit. With the election just around the corner, I wanted to share why I am running and my vision for our city’s future.

For those who may not know my background, I have dedicated the last twelve years to serving Lee’s Summit—eight years on the City Council and four years on the Planning Commission. My goal has always been to remain relevant and helpful to our community as we navigate the challenges and opportunities of being one of Missouri’s fastest-growing cities.

Responsible Growth and Infrastructure

One of the most frequent topics I discuss is how we balance Lee’s Summit’s rapid growth with the high quality of life we all enjoy. Over the last eight years, we have followed a citizen-led strategic plan that prioritizes mixed-use developments to diversify our tax base. By increasing commercial tax revenue, we can reduce the financial burden on residential taxpayers while still providing top-tier amenities like our award-winning park system and excellent schools.

To support this growth, I am committed to improving our infrastructure. As Mayor, I will focus on maintaining and upgrading our neighborhood and arterial streets to ensure our roads remain safe and can handle our increasing population.

A Personal Commitment to Public Safety

Public safety is not just a policy issue for me; it is personal. Many of you know that my family was tragically impacted by the Super Bowl parade shooting. This experience has only deepened my resolve to ensure our first responders have the competitive pay, equipment, and resources they need to keep our community safe. Our police and fire departments are the backbone of Lee’s Summit’s safety, and supporting them is my top priority.

New Initiatives for Our Community

I believe in leadership that listens. That is why I have announced my plan to form a Citizen-Led Housing Task Force. While we have made progress in diversifying our housing options, we must continue to find collaborative, community-driven solutions for housing affordability and variety to support all families in Lee’s Summit.

Non-Partisan Leadership and Ethics

I firmly believe that local government should be non-partisan. My decisions are based on what is best for every citizen of Lee’s Summit, not political party lines. Furthermore, I am committed to the highest ethical standards. To avoid any potential conflicts of interest regarding my wife’s long-standing role as a municipal judge, I will continue my practice of recusing myself from all matters related to the court system.

I am proud of my track record of transparent, engaged leadership, and I ask for your support as we work together to keep Lee’s Summit the best community in Missouri.
